Letter from the editor

Hey,

Five weeks left before the end of 2025! Can you believe how time flies?

I have two updates I’m happy to share with you before the year-end.

First, my book “Survive and Thrive” is getting a new version. Check out the Career and Personal Growth section for more info.

Second, this week, I pitched my business idea for a social enterprise to a panel jury and fellow entrepreneurs via SheDIDIT. It’s my first time to pitch. I was a bundle of nervous energy. But I survived! You can read more about the experience in the Overseas Finance and Wellness section.

How to read these journals?

  • Skip sections and read only what’s relevant. Or read the full version.

  • When something resonates, feel free to reply. Or even better, share it with others.

  • New issue gets released every two weeks (or occasionally).

career and personal growth

Do you have what it takes to go global?

Did you include “international experience” as part of your career plan this year or next year?

Have you been thinking about moving to a different country for such a long time? But you haven’t acted on it yet?

Do you feel unsure about where to start? Do you often ask yourself if an international career is worth it?

And do you want to understand what it really takes to go global and create a life adventure that you can tell your grandkids (or students) later?

If so, I’m writing this book for you.

“Survive and Thrive: How to Unlock a Fulfilling Global Career and Life Adventure” cuts through the hype and helps you make the smartest choice for your situation.

This isn't a motivational book telling you to chase your dreams. It's a reality check and decision-making tool that shows you exactly what you're signing up for before you answer the call of a global career.

You can now pre-order the Amazon Kindle version.

Expected release: January 2026

This book is ideal for those in early careers who are thinking about building international experience in a different country, or for experienced professionals who have outgrown their current role and want to upskill through a global assignment or international opportunity. But right now, you’re stuck, unable to take action or can’t decide which path.

If that’s you, may I ask a favor?

  • Check out the table of contents and see if there’s a topic that you think is missing or should be removed.

  • If you have burning questions on a specific topic, feel free to share too. I’ll do my best to answer those questions in the book.

  • Want to become a beta reader? You’ll receive a free advanced copy in exchange for feedback.

Reach out to me via email or book a call here if you have some inputs on any of the above, or want to be a beta reader.

Here are some lessons about decision-making that I learned the hard way, and which I also aim to share through the book.

  • You can’t optimize every decision, i.e., choose which offers the least risk, but greatest rewards. And yet you can make informed decisions. There’s a difference. Informed decisions result from the EKS combo—experience, knowledge, and skills. With the EKS combo, you can better understand what you’re gaining and what you’re giving up.

  • Train yourself to make difficult decisions, not only quick decisions that can be answered by yes or no. The harder the decision is, the greater your transformation will be.

  • There are no good or bad decisions, only good or bad outcomes.

Not the ideal reader of the book? Here are still some ways you can support (only if you’re happy to do so).

  • If you’re managing a team or coaching people, and someone among them expresses interest in gaining international experience, recommend this book as a starting point to gain insights.

  • If you’re part of a company that works with international hires/expats, and you know the Talent/Global Mobility Leader, mention this book in your conversations.

  • If you’re advising, coaching, or teaching young people who aspire to live and work overseas, recommend this book as a career guide to help map their journey.

Thanks for your support!

PS. I’m still working on the new version and aim to release by January next year. But you can already pre-order the Amazon Kindle version here.
